After the monastery we went to walk through the old town and climb around the mountain. After all the climbing it was time to get some dinner. In Sakya, a foreigner was not allowed to walk around too much or go too far from the hotel. So, we did try to stay around.

15.07.09 Sakya
We started driving from Shigatse towards Sakya, the old capital during the Mongol rule of Tibet, in the morning. We had few photo stops on the way and reached Sakya after traveling the last 25 kilometers on a dirt road. We decided to spend the night in Sakya instead of another town further away. After settling into the hotel, we went to visit the Sakya monastery. The monastery was under repairs and quite dark, but there were a lot of old statues there.
